"Awaken your senses with the taste of Africa"

Matilda lives and breathes coffee: from generation to generation, from hand to hand.
Matilda grew up surrounded by coffee – on the family-run Utengule plantation in Tanzania, which has existed for over 100 years. After living all over the world, she now lives in Switzerland and has realized her dream with the Kahawa Café in the Freiruum Zug: to roast coffee that not only tastes excellent but also tells a story.
Kahawa stands for high-quality, ethically grown coffee from personal relationships – from Tanzania to Ethiopia to Brazil. Whether in a cup, as whole beans, or your very own blend – with us, every bean begins with respect and ends with enjoyment.

Our farm in Tanzania is nestled in the green hills of the southern highlands – where fertile volcanic soil and high-altitude air meet decades of coffee-growing tradition. With passion, meticulous craftsmanship, and respect for nature and people, we create a coffee of exceptional depth and character.

Matilda's Choice is more than just a coffee – it's a labor of love.
Matilda, the daughter of a coffee-growing family, grew up surrounded by the aroma of freshly roasted beans. Her family has been involved with coffee for generations – from the plant to the cup – with responsibility, care, and passion.
For years, Matilda traveled through the coffee-growing countries of the world: from the highlands of Brazil to the fertile soils of Tanzania and the lush green hills of Uganda. She searched for a unique blend that combined character, depth, and elegance. The result is her personal composition: Matilda's Choice.

• You love mild, sweet and fruity coffees

Origin & Character
Deep in the heart of Minas Gerais, one of Brazil's most traditional coffee-growing regions, lies Fazenda da Lagoa – nestled in rolling hills, surrounded by springs and rich biodiversity. This environment creates ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality Arabica coffee.
The coffee cherries ripen slowly under the Brazilian sun, developing a particularly harmonious aroma. On the palate, this coffee reveals an elegant sweetness of caramel, accompanied by notes of ripe dried fruits such as fig and plum. The body is balanced, round, and smooth – a coffee that has depth but doesn't feel heavy.
The Fazenda works in harmony with nature and focuses on sustainable management – you can taste that in every cup.

In the heart of Ethiopia's Sidamo region, where mist meets mountain forests and Arabica coffee grows wild, lies the origin of a coffee culture thousands of years old. Our Ethiopia Arba – named after the word for “four” in the regional language – symbolically represents the four pillars of this coffee: origin, craftsmanship, diversity and taste.
